I love this easy banana bread recipe because it is super quick, everything mixes in one bowl and there is no sugar in the bread. It is sweetened using honey and you can’t even tell the difference! There is sugar in the chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar topping but those are optional. This banana bread also uses olive oil which is a healthier alternative to vegetable oil.

Easy and quick naturally sweetened chocolate chip banana bread

Serves: 1 loaf
Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 ½ medium or 2 large bananas)
  • ¼ cup any type of milk or water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 ¾ cups white or whole wheat flour
  • chocolate chips (to your liking)
  • OPTIONAL CINNAMON SUGAR TOPPING:
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease your loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the oil and honey. Add the eggs and beat well, then add in the mashed bananas and milk. Mix together well.
  3. Add the baking soda, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and whisk together until well blended. Lastly, stir in the flour until just combined. Do not use a whisk for this part, use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula. Stir the flour in gently until it is combined and it will still have some lumps.
  4. Add in chocolate chips if you are using. You could also add in any other mixing here such as nuts..
  5. Bake for bout 50 mins or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  6. OPTIONAL: if you want to include a cinnamon sugar topping - mix together the 2 tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon and sprinkle all over the top of the batter once it is in the loaf pan before baking.
  7. Enjoy!
Notes
The bananas should be ripe or over ripe to add sweetness to the bread.
**I have used banana almond milk for this recipe and it comes out so good! But you can use any type of milk (almond, oat and even water)
